The summers of Dubai are not easy on anyone. It is especially hard on people who have to drive to and fro from their work, while enduring the heat. Not only does the heat cause sunburns and other issues to your body, it can also affect your car as well. Your car may be working fine when you take a quick look at it. But how do you know if your car is not heating up and may get overheated?

Leaks in the cooling system

Every car will have a cooling system. It is a critical part of your car that has to be well maintained, As the cooling system comprises various components that include pipes and hoses, there are several areas that can cause a coolant leak. This ,in turn, is one of the most common reasons for an engine overheating. When a leak occurs, the coolant will not be able to flow to various parts of the engine, which in turn will cause the heat to build up as the radiator will not release it. Some common areas that can cause a leak are water pumps, hoses, radiator, etc. However, if there is a leak in the cooling system, it is highly unlikely that you will find it out yourself. If you feel that there is a leak, or if the coolant level is dangerously low, it is advisable not to drive the vehicle. Get the help of a towing truck to take your car to a service center as soon as possible.

Coolant Troubles

How does your vehicle let you know that there is an issue with the cooling system? Look out for the Engine Temperature Warning indicator, this is the first evident sign the vehicle gives out Now, imagine a scenario where you are driving your car, and smoke starts coming out of the hood. This can be a result of overheating. Coolant can also be a cause of overheating. It is not necessary that there needs to be a leak for coolant to cause trouble. For instance, if the coolant you are using is not perfect for your car, or the coolant-to- water ratio is not correct, these can be causes for your car’s coolant to cause overheating. If your car does not have any overheating issues during the winter, but on the contrary, overheats during the summer, this might be an indicator that you may not be using the perfect coolant for your car.

Radiator Issues

There are several numbers of problems that a radiator can face, especially if it’s an old one. If your radiator is leaky, clogged, bent/damaged, or even if the radiator fan is not working properly, heat won’t escape your vehicle, which might end up causing overheating. If you think that your radiator is faulty, it is not something that you can fix on your own. You will have to consult with a garage in Dubai to understand the issue and see the proper fix for it.

Here are some simple tips to prevent overheating your car:

i) Park your car in the shade
ii) Leave your car windows slightly open to let in some air
iii) Watch out for coolant leaks.
iv) Add engine coolant when necessary
v) Keep an eye on your car temperature gauge.
