No matter what car that you use, you have to know what engine coolant is and why it is used. In Dubai, harsh climates and dry weather is bound to take your car for a tough ride. So, what saves your car from having very little coolant levels? Basically, an engine coolant is a mixture of water and antifreeze that helps your engine from overheating. An important part of car maintenance, engine coolant ensures the smooth functioning of your car’s engine.

Most of the cars have a dashboard warning light that alerts you if the coolant level in your car is low. It is not advisable to drive the vehicle if the coolant warning sign is up. Rather than taking care of the situation on your own, you can take your vehicle to a car service center in Dubai to get it checked and make sure that there is nothing wrong with your car.

To check your coolant levels, there are a number of steps that you have to follow:

1. Find the expansion tank

Check and find the coolant tank. With a symbol on the tank, determine where the coolant tank is in your hood. If you have any doubts on where the tank is, check your car’s manual for more details.

2. Check the coolant level

If you look inside (or at the sides) the tank, you will be able to find the minimum and maximum levels at each end. This will help you understand if your car has enough coolant or if it does in fact, need more of it.

3. Check hoses for leaks

If any leaks come to your sight while checking the coolant, do give a look to the hoses and brackets as well. If there are any leakages or white staining, get it inspected by a technician at the earliest. Coolant leak can not only drain the reservoir but can also lead to the damage of adjacent parts as well.

4. Top up if necessary

Do top up your coolant if you feel that it’s necessary. Unless and until the engine is cold, do not remove the filler cap. If you do not keep this in mind , it can lead to a sudden pressurized heat or steam that can hit right at you. Always make sure that you use the right type of antifreeze. Always keep in mind that antifreeze takes care of your car not only in the winters, but protects it all year round. No matter what the dust or how harsh the summers in Dubai is, the antifreeze will protect your engine

4. Take it for maintenance

It’s definitely not normal for the coolant level to drop. So instead of taking care of it on your own, take it to a garage or a service center that knows what’s best for your car. Experts at Carcility will definitely know what’s best for you and your vehicle.
